"Discharge second generation reflection" is second generation HID bulb developed for most vehicles with reflector based headlights.
The difference between D2R and D2S bulbs is the ceramic paint located on the quartz capsule of D2R bulbs.

GSHid D4S Xenon Bulb
D4S stands for "Discharge fourth generation shielded" are fourth generation shielded HID bulb.
D4S are mercury free versions of the D1S and D2S bulbs. They do not work with older D1S/D2S type ballasts because steady on voltage is only 36v !
